| The 2007 winner of the Robert Hill Award for the Promotion of Photovoltaics for Development was Wang Sicheng of the Beijing Jike Company, part of China’s Energy Research Institute (ERI). | The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) held its first Annual General Meeting in Aix-les-Bains in June. The Alliance was formed by the renewable energy trade associations as an EPIA initiative. | Following the recent granting of planning permission by the Secretary of State, John Hutton, the Pulse Stream 100 tidal energy converter project has commenced installation in the Humber Estuary, one kilometre off the south shore of the river between Immingham and Grimsby. Piling of the foundation structure was completed in May 08 by contractors Humber Work Boats.
