| The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) held its first Annual General Meeting in Aix-les-Bains in June. The Alliance was formed by the renewable energy trade associations as an EPIA initiative. Under the leadership of Ernesto Macias (President) and Paula Llamas (Secretary General), the ARE now has 24 members, including IT Power. At the AGM, Bernard McNelis was elected to the Board of Directors. Paula is now on maternity leave and Simon Roland (Communications Manager) looks after operations until Guido Glania takes over as Secretary General in September.... read more | |

| Following the recent granting of planning permission by the Secretary of State, John Hutton, the Pulse Stream 100 tidal energy converter project has commenced installation in the Humber Estuary, one kilometre off the south shore of the river between Immingham and Grimsby. Piling of the foundation structure was completed in May 08 by contractors Humber Work Boats.
