The company also offers due diligence services for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. IT Power is actively managing specialist funds for renewable energy around the world.
Experience
IT Power has provided due diligence services to a number of renewable energy investment companies. Recent relevant projects are highlighted below:
- In 2008 IT Power carried out a technical due diligence for a vertically integrated solar manufacturer in China.
- In 2007 IT Power carried out technical due diligence on a portfolio of eleven hydropower CDM projects in China. The work included reviewing the hydrology (head and discharge) and selection of technology and predicted power output and export to 2012 and beyond.
- In 2006 IT Power provided due diligence studies on three proposed biomass electricity plants in China (cotton, maize and wheat straw). IT Power’s studies assessed fuel supply, plant technology, regulatory and environmental approvals, staff capabilities for operation and maintenance and construction schedules. The viability of the projects as CDM project was assessed.
- In 2005 and 2006 IT Power carried out technical due diligence for three solar manufacturers in China, which have all since listed successfully as IPOs. The work was carried out for private investment funds and included market assessments for solar power, a review of the technology and production costs and of the upstream material supply. As part of each study IT Power visited the PV company, reviewed the manufacturing facilities and met with the management team to discuss the company’s future plans for expansion and diversification. A review of raw material supply was also provided. IT Power’s clients were extremely pleased with the work produced in each case.
- In 2006 IT Power provided an independent review of the wind turbine blade market and material supply chain. The review covered the value chain and competitive landscape and current technical developments for different sizes of wind turbine blade.
- In 2004 IT Power was asked to assess fuel supply and ash disposal for the five biomass fired power plants in the UK as part of the due diligence required by a potential investor. The availability and price of fuel for a biomass plant is the most significant threat to its commercial performance. IT Power reviewed the current and future fuel supply situation for each plant.
