Water Pumping

IT Power has a long-standing record in the field of wind pump research & development starting with the IT Wind pump programme in 1982. We have designed and developed two different types of wind pumps, one appropriate for large volume-head water delivery applications, and more recently a smaller model for household or small community water requirements. We have worked with interested companies in a number of developing countries to develop local manufacturing and product commercialisation capabilities for both models.

Activities

  • Extensive research into the world market for wind pumps
  • Evaluation of market potential
  • Development of marketing strategies
  • Research and design into windpump technology
  • Technology transfer of appropriate designs to developing country manufacturers

Example Projects

  • Design, build and testing of a modern small-diameter windpump using novel design features and aimed at end-use in developing countries, subsequent technology transfer to manufacturers in developing countries
  • Preparation of a field-workers guide to the application and use of windpumping systems for water supply in developing countries
  • Business plan for the development and marketing of a series of high performance windpumps and allied pumping equipment
  • Sub-Regional Workshop on the Utilisation of Windpower for Pumping Water in the Sahel
