A biannual DEEP (Developing Energy Enterprise Project) East Africa story competition was initiated by GVEP International to offer an opportunity for partners involved to tell everyone about their experiences. The stories have just been judged by the CEO, Sarah Adams, and the runner up is Bob Kazungu from IT Power, Uganda for ‘Remember, it is important to participate’.
DEEP East Africa is an innovative capacity building project with an objective to start and grow micro, small and medium enterprises energy businesses in East Africa. Activities include community mobilisation and identification of potential enterprises and entrepreneurs, mentor training, business development services training, mechanical & electrical advisory services.
DEEP-EA involves six of GVEP International’s partners, IT Power East Africa, East African Energy Technology Development Network, the Aga Khan Foundation’s Coastal Rural Support Project, Kenya, Emerging Market Economics-Africa, Practical Action East Africa and Gender and Energy Research and Training. IT Power East Africa in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya is tasked with technical business advisory service delivery as well as training on technology options.
