Our buildings are responsible for almost 50 per cent of the UK's energy consumption and carbon emissions. Communities and Local Government is introducing measures in England and Wales to improve the energy efficiency of our buildings.
A major instrument of policy is the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates for properties providing A-G efficiency ratings and recommendations for improvement.
The reforms are currently being rolled out and from 1st October 2008 all properties - homes, commercial and public buildings - when bought, sold, built or rented will need an Energy Performance Certificate. Larger public buildings will also need to display an Energy Certificate.
This work is part of European legislation - the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive - which all member states must adopt.
IT Power’s Services
IT Power can provide an Energy Performance Certificate to existing commercial buildings by performing the Energy Assessment. The assessment not only allows us to satisfy the Governments directive in creating a valid certificate, but allows for the implementation of recommendations by utilising an Accredited Assessment methodology. As with an Energy Statement, the benefits are clear:
IT Power is unique in that it has the knowledge to not only show what can be achieved in terms of Energy, Overhead and CO2 reduction, but also to assist in the implementation of the recommendations though our expertise in renewable energy and sustainable building technology.
Elements of an Energy Assessment
All work in producing the EPC is and must be unbiased, by law. Typically a consultation would then ensue; to enable the further services required to proceed with reduction of costs, energy and CO2 reduction.
